EUROPEAN ARABIAN HORSE FESTIVAL 2017

2017-08-23

Poganinka, Emanolla, Pontia

The fourth edition of the Al Khalediah European Arabian Horse Festival in Nowe Wrońska took place on 18 – 20 August. From its first edition the show enjoys a great deal of interest, the same being true this year with 91 horses appearing in the ring. The show’s popularity is no doubt a result of the unceasing efforts of the organizers, who are „bending over backwards” to satisfy even the most discerning visitors. As every year, this year they also prepared something new. The change was in the prizes. Cars, previously given to the Championship winners, were now replaced by cash. Thus gold medalists received PLN 30 thousand, silver medalists PLN 20 thousand and bronze medalists PLN 10 thousand. The horses placed among the first five in the class were awarded PLN 4 thousand each. This prize system reduced the differences between the medalists, which were quite considerable during the previous editions of the show. The total prize money, including the Sunday race, was PLN 683 500.  During the three previous editions of the Festival we were spoilt by beautiful weather, which never left Nowe Wrońska during the show. This year however it proved much more fickle. The Friday classes took place under relatively favourable skies, while Sunday was a real race against rain, with the program being slightly altered to avoid the downpour, which nonetheless proved unavoidable.

The Michałów Stud had the most reasons for celebration, its horses winning two gold medals and one silver and bronze each, as well as the unanimous verdict of Best in Show. Four gold medals, five silver and five bronze went to private breeders from Poland and abroad.

The golden sponsor, for the fourth time and from the beginning of the Festival, was our Institute, the Arabian Horse Culture International Institute AHCII.  We also sponsored the 7 years old and older mares class. Our partners, Huta Julia, the law firm DKK Dziedzic, Kowalski, Kornasiewicz and Partners and the Rad-Pol furniture company were among the silver sponsors.

Persia Touch SW

Why wait – the first „20” is given

The Friday show started in good weather with yearling fillies, which competed in two groups, 7 participants each. The winner of group A was this year’s revelation from Białka, Persia Touch SW (EKS Alihandro – Princess Touch SW/Yllen El Jamaal), bred and owned by Nina Suskievicova - Suweco Stud. Persia won 90.50 points. The runner up with a score of 90.38 was a filly from the Chrycynno Pałac stud, Gaja Eunika (Kanz Albidayer – Gaja Selene/Emigrant). In class B of yearling fillies the best was the eye-catching grey Kalifornia  (Kahil Al Shaqab – Karbona/Ekstern), bred and owned by Krzysztof Falba, SK Wyszków. Kalifornia was the one to win the first „20”, which the judges gave her for movement. Her total score was 91.63 pkt. The runner up in this class was once again a representative of the Chrycynno stud, the grey Psyche Ofelia (Echo Adonis – Psyche Kreuza/Ekstern), with a score of 91.50 points.

Persia Touch SW

Among eleven two-year-old mares we saw some really tough contestants, which raise an uproar at every show. What we have in mind is Michałów’s Poganinka  (El Omari – Pentra/Poganin) and her stable mate Emanolla (Vitorio TO – Emandoria/Gazal Al Shaqab). One cannot remain indifferent towards Poganinka. This also applied to the judges on that day: they gave her four „20s”, two each for movement and type. The mare won a total score of 93.13 points, while Emanolla’s result was 92.00 points. The latter mare did not win a single maximum score but was placed second, immediately behind Poganinka. The three-year-old mares class was another win for Michałów. Pontia (Equator – Polonica/Ekstern) broke the bank of „20s” for movement, with a fifth twenty for type as well. Her total score of 93.13 was unbeatable in the class. The second place went to Janów’s delightful Bambina (Kahil Al Shaqab – Bellisa/Poganin), with a „20” for type and movement and a total of 92.13 points.

Kalifornia

Two classes of yearling colts, with 7 and 5 contestants respectively, were the next in the ring. In class A Aanan Lembarak (Hadidi Al Shaqab – AJ Sundos/Marwan Al Shaqab), bred and owned by Muhammed Mubarak Abdullah, left his rivals far behind with a score of 92.50 points. The runner up with a score of 90.25 was Białka’s chestnut Piękny Pan (Glorius Apal – Parilla/Enzo), who won 90.25 points. In class B the winner was a colt presented by a private breeder, Mr Janusz Ryżkowski. The bay Ames JR (Psytadel – Altara/Gazal Al Shaqab) presented himself beautifully in movement, winning three „20s” in this category and a total of 92.13 points. He was closely followed the German bred  Muranas ADL (Muranas Jassehr – Muranas Aleezah/Psytadel) with a score of 91.25 points.

Safwan Nayyar

In the 2 year old stallions class we saw 9 contestants. The winner was Safwan Nayyar (Fayyad Al Fayyad – Starlight/Sissi) bred by the Nayyar Stud and owned by Abdulateef Ahmed Al Kandri. The judges gave him one „20” for type and movement, which contributed to a final score of 92.50 pkt.  The second place went to the gold medalist from Białka, El Shaad (FA El Shawan – El Estrada/Justify), bred and owned by Małgorzata and Józef Pietrzak. El Shaad scored 92.00 points. The competition of 3 year old stallions took place between four participants. The winner here was Petrarca  (Kahil Al Shaqab – Poezja/Enzo) bred and owned by PPH Parys, with a score of 91.50 points. The second was Janów’s Paris ( Kahil Al Shaqab - Palmeta/Ecaho) with a score of 91.38 points.

Adyga

The last class held on that day belonged to the ladies. In the 4-6 year old mares class we saw 9 contestants. The first place was unavoidably awarded to Michałów’s Pustynia Kahila (Kahil Al Shaqab – Pustynna Malwa/Ekstern), who won two „20s” for type and a total of 93.00 points. The runner up with a score of 92.88 points was Adyga (Kahil Al Shaqab – Amiga/Piaff), owned by Halsdon Arabians and bred by SK Janów Podlaski. Adyga „flew” over the ring catching three „20s” for movement and one for type. The third place, with one „20” for type and movement, was Białka’s Perfinka (Esparto – Perfirka/Gazal Al Shaqab). Her final result was 92.00 points.

Pustynia Kahila, Poganinka, Emanolla, Pontia and the rest

On Saturday the ring changed into a magnificent theatre with the very best of actors. The performance was given by senior mares and stallions, with the grand finale belonging to none other than the champions. The beginning of the show still took place in sunny weather, but the forecasts were not encouraging. This was a serious reason for concern because Poland recently experienced a series of violent and destructive storms. For this reason the show started somewhat earlier, which unfortunately did not help to avoid the rain. The spectacle was opened by 7 year old and older mares. No matter how many shows or classes and where, this is the one that is always the most impatiently awaited. Beauty and elegance come alive are invariably captivating. Our own private reason for joy was that our Institute, the Arabian Horse Culture International Institute AHCII, was the sponsor of this class. Prizes in the form of cheques and a cup donated by our partner, Huta Julia from Piechowice, were presented by the President of the Management Board, Łukasz Łuniewski. In the eldest mares class we were delighted to watch ten exquisite ladies, with three daughters of Ekstern clearly in the lead.

Pustyna Kahila

The winner of the class was Cenoza, out of Celna by Alegro. The mare was bred in Janów and is owned by Mrs Shirley Watts’ Halsdon Arabians. Cenoza won 93.13 points, including two „20s” each for head and neck and movement. Michałów’s Ebora, out of Eberia by Ecaho, owned by Nina Suskievicova - Suweco Stud, came second with the same score but only one „20” for type and movement. The second runner up was Bohema, out of Bogini by Arbil, bred by SK Janów Podlaski and owned by PPH Parys. The judges gave her as many as three „20s” for movement, and a total score of 92.25 points. The fourth place went to this year’s Vice-Champion of the National Show in Janów, Zagrobla (QR Marc - Zagrobla/Monogramm), who also won 92.25 points including one „20” for movement. Michałów’s Waranga (QR Marc – Wilga/Ekstern) came fifth also with a score of 92.25. The order of these three mares was determined by the movement score.

Emanolla

Poganinka

In the next class, 4-6 year old stallions, we watched 6 contestants. Psyche Keret (Khidar – Psyche Victoria/Ekstern) of Chrcynna won the class with a flourish and a record score including three „20s” for type, two for movement and one for head and neck, which added up to a total of 93.38 points! The second place went to Calateon (Vitorio TO – Calatea/Ekstern) bred and owned by Marek Kondrasiuk, who won 91.75 points. The winner in the stake of nine 7 year old and older stallions was  LVA Maximus (Espano Estopa – Challon Salana/Carmargue) bred by Virginia R. Brown and owned by Sheikh Hamada Khaleda Al Sabah. The judges gave him 91.88 points. The second was Eternal (FS Bengali – Ewitacja/Ganges) bred by Jan Głowacki of the Mała Wieś Stud. Eternal obtained 91.75 points with one „20” for head and neck.

Psyche Keret

The delightful Persia Touch SW was the one to leave Nowe Wrońska with the title of Champion of Yearling Fillies. We remember that the same filly also won the gold medal in Białka. The silver medal was awarded to Kalifornia and bronze to Gaja Eunika. The title of Champion of Yearling Colts was awarded to Aanan Lembarak, Vice Champion to Ames JR, while Muranas ADL was the bronze medalist. The Junior Mares Championship was easily won by the representatives of Michałów: Poganinka, Emanolla, Pontia won the gold, silver and bronze respectively. The Junior Stallions Championship winner was Safwan Al Nayyar. The two remaining places on the podium went to El Shaad (silver) and Petrarca (bronze). The results in the Senior Mares class were as follows: Pustynia Kahila – gold, Cenoza – silver, and Adyga – bronze. The winner in the Senior Stallions class was Psyche Keret, closely followed by LVA Maximus and Eternal. This was effectively the end of the rivalry for the last title that remained was Best in Show, but there could be no doubt about who the winner could be. The judges themselves were not in the least in doubt and unanimously awarded the title of Best in Show to Pustynia Kahila!
